“Young Official’s School”

Certified educational program “Young Official’s School” is a joint project of Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University and Vinnytsia City Council, implemented with the support of the Deutsche Gessellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, German Society for International Cooperation from March 11, 2017 to June 11, 2017.

The purpose of the program was to form a complex of professional and personal competences of the modern civil servant, which are the basis of his or her effective activity aimed at the development of the city.

Professional competencies of graduates:

Ability to analyze and predict socio-economic processes, in particular on the basis of statistical methods

Strategic vision formation skills, application of strategic management and planning tools

Mastering the techniques of modern project management, investment and innovation management

Developing city branding technology and mastering the territory brand assessment method

Knowledge of public communication basics, algorithm skills of information-analytical activity

Mastering the tools of modern personnel management

The curriculum for the program trainees included:

Classroom training with leading professors and associate professors of DonNUU named after Vasyl Stus

Independent work of the students under the guidance of the teacher to prepare the final projects

Traineeships at the department twice a week

Public presentation of projects whose topics correspond to the priorities of the city development and the functions of the VCC Economy and Investment Department

As a result of the program, 15 graduates of the School were employed in the Department of Economics and Investment of Vinnytsia City Council. The first step for graduates in new jobs was a paid internship that lasted 3 months.

During the internship, the youth took an active part in the project management training program called “Urban Breakthroughs Workshop”. The project is co-ordinated by a well-known Ukrainian economic manager, one of the founders of the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School, former Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Pavlo Sheremeta.

School graduates are currently working to implement breakthroughs in attracting investment, facilitating business, deregulation, building effective clusters and enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs to increase gross regional product per capita.

«I All-Ukrainian School of Public Policy and Administration»

The 1st All-Ukrainian School of Public Policy and Administration worked from October 29, 2016 to February 4, 2017. This was an ambitious project of two universities – Vasyl’ Stus DonNU and Uzhgorod National University, which was implemented as part of the Innovative Forms of Internal Academic Mobility Project of DonNU European Development in Vinnytsia – 2016 with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and the assistance of NGO “Institute of social research and political analysis.”

The first graduates of the School were 15 people of different age and professions, united by the desire to change local and self-government for the better, as well as to improve the life of modern community. Participants were selected from 89 applicants who submitted motivational letters back in October 2016, when the recruitment process for the School began.

As the result of 12 Saturdays during which the training lasted, the students of the School listened to 72 hours of interesting and useful trainings from 22 speakers from different cities of Ukraine; The School’s Facebook page was liked by about 400 network users; more than 100 gigabytes of video content were produced during the School’s operation, about 100 sheets of flipchart paper were used, and 80 liters of coffee were brewed during drunk and brainstorming!

The second All-Ukrainian School of Public Policy and Administration worked – a certification educational program for chiefs of district state administrations of Vinnytsia region, implemented by Vasyl’ Stus DonNU in partnership with NGO “Dialogue Center” with the support of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration .

After 3 months of intensive training, 23 participants of the School have mastered 11 creative modules; listened to 64 hours of interesting and useful trainings conducted by 11 experienced trainers from different cities of Ukraine; delivered 23 public speeches; more than 70 gigabytes of photographic content was produced during the School’s operation!

Graduates have received a number of topical competencies in public policy and administration:

Ability:

  • to analyze and predict socio-political and socio-economic processes;
  • prepare public speeches and perform in front of different audiences;
  • communicate with the media;
  • develop and implement information and communication campaigns;
  • to formulate strategies public politician image;

«VIN-MEDIA» Media School

The «VIN-MEDIA» Media School Certified Educational Program for chief editors and journalists of the district newspapers in Vinnytsia Oblast worked from June 15 to December 14, 2018

It was implemented by Vasyl’ Stus DonNU in partnership with the NGO “EIGHT” with the support of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration.

The second All-Ukrainian School of Public Policy and Administration worked from September 20 to December 20, 2018. It was a certification educational program for chiefs of district state administrations of Vinnytsia region, implemented by Vasyl’ Stus DonNU in partnership with NGO “Dialogue Center” with the support of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration .

During 7 months of intensive training, 22 participants of the School have mastered 9 creative modules; listened to 50 hours of interesting and useful trainings conducted by 10 experienced trainers from different cities of Ukraine; implemented 3 creative projects – own newspapers in 8 hours; more than 55 gigabytes of photographic content was produced during the School’s operation!

Graduates obtained a number of topical competences:

Abilities:

  • to analyze and reflect on the pages of media publication events of social and political life, economic and social processes, cultural events;
  • generate strategic alternatives, identify and evaluate strategies for developing their own media;
  • be able to work with sources of information and create quality photographic content;
  • to use technologies for political content usage in modern media publication;
  • to apply opportunities of project activity for mass communication;
  • to implement socially responsible activities in the media sphere;
  • possess digital marketing techniques to ensure the effective functioning of QMS;
  • protect your own content from copyright infringement and use someone else’s content within applicable law;
  • apply knowledge of world standards of journalism in their own professional activities.
