In the book is given a critical analysis of the theoretical direction in the archaeological discipline of USA and United Kingdom. It advanced under the name of the ‘New Archaeology’. The book’s manuscript was used a s abase for a special course of lectures given by the author at Leningrad University in 1975 – 78 and at Novosibirsk University in 1977. These courses and their perception by the research youth allowed to the author to elaborate the book by the 1978. The book is predestined to archaeologists, ethnographers, historians of culture and to all interested in the development of historical disciplines in USA and Great Britain.
