Donetsk National University is an institution of higher education, it answers contemporary level of high education development, it allows to respond actively to market economy’s needs, revival of national culture and formation of Ukrainian society elite. Donetsk National University is first-rate centre of science, education and culture of Donbas, it has the highest 4th level of accreditation with the right of autonomy.


Shevchenko Volodymyr Pavlovych, rector, hero of Ukraine, honoured worker of science and technology of Ukraine, academician of NAS of Ukraine, professor, Doctor of Science in physics and mathematics, chief of rectors of High educational institutions council in Donetsk Region.

About 19 thousands students are studying in the university, specialists training of natural, humane and economic profiles is being performed at the level of bachelor, specialist and master degrees in about 40 specialities.

Faculties of DonNU

Today DonNU is a part of Donetsk Science Centre NAS of Ukraine and Ministry for education and science of Ukraine. Scientists of academic institutions take an active part in training of students, postgraduates and doctoral candidates in DonNU.

The University communicates with 26 universities all over the world. DonNU is a member of European University Association, AIMOS , Eurasian organization, participant of numerous European scientific agendas.

In 2004 the University was one of the first in Ukraine who singed «Magna Charta» of European universities

Students of the university have 12 buildings, big laboratory facilities, up-to-date Information Technology Office, more then 60 computer classes, the biggest library (among Donetsk Educational Institutions) with 10 reading rooms for 400 places and book collection in more than 1,1 ml. books.
