ELSA – Donetsk

       In Donetsk the local representation of the European Legal Students Assosiation (ELSA) is created. The European Law Students Association (ELSA) is an international law students’ organization which unites 30 000 law students and young lawyers in 36 countries of Europe. There is a local representation of the ELSA in Donetsk which successfully operates for 10 years. The ELSA-Donetsk local group is one of the strongest branches of the ELSA-Ukraine.
      The aim of Donetsk group is to promote consolidation of co-operation with young lawyers in Europe. One of the key activities of the ELSA-Donetsk group is organization of the Annual National Competition in Criminal Law and Procedure. Every year members of organization have a chance to visit certain European countries where different ELSA conferences, contests and meetings are held.

Youth Center for Legal Studies

       The Youth Center for Legal Studies (YCLS) is a non-profit regional youth NGO established in 1994 by students and junior faculty of the Economics and Law Faculty. The YCLS’s mission is to render assistance in strengthening a young Ukrainian democracy by developing legal education and legal profession in Ukraine. The YCLS’s objectives are: joining efforts of students, practicing lawyers and scholars for development of legal education; creation of informational databases for law-students and young lawyers and providing them with technical support in conducting research; involving students in academic activities.
      Main partners of the YCLS are British Council in Ukraine, International Renaissance Foundation, Ukrainian Bar Association and other leading international and Ukrainian organizations and companies

International and European Law Center

       The International and European Law Centre (IELC) operates primarily as a resource center offering to the faculty, post-graduates and law students the wide opportunities for high-quality legal research as well as providing them with the information and technical support and assistance with respect to opportunities of degree, non-degree, and professional training programs abroad. The IELC maintains an outstanding library of law books, periodicals, CD-materials and videotapes as well as offers a free access to the computer and Internet resources. The IELC activities encourage students, post-graduates and young faculty to study foreign languages and learn foreign law, in particular, by inviting foreign visiting lecturers to the Faculty, hosting summer schools with participation of lecturers from the universities abroad.
      Another thing the IELC is responsible for is participation of the ELF student teams in the moot competitions. The Center co-ordinates pre-selection of students, composition of the teams and their training for participation in international student law moot court competitions (e.g., Philip Jessup and Benjamin Telders International Public Law Moot Court Competitions, Willem Vis International Commercial Arbitration Competition, Central and East European EC Law Moot Court Competition, etc.), assists legal clinics, NGOs, public institutions and practitioners, i.e., advising them on the issues of international, EC, foreign law and standards of human rights protection.
